Care Guide

Oriental Zen jewelry, blending faith and aesthetics through unique craftsmanship, requires meticulous care to preserve its sacred luster and artistic value. The following provides professional care advice on cleaning, storage, daily wear protection, and handling special circumstances.

1. Cleaning Method (1) Surface Dust Removal: Prepare a soft brush (such as an eyeglass cleaning brush, with fine bristles that won't damage the surface) and a soft microfiber cloth. Place the jewelry on a clean work surface and gently brush along the grain of the jewelry, removing any dust. Focus on the grooves and crevices within the grain. Then, wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth to restore basic cleanliness.

(2) Cleaning of oil stains and fingerprints If there are oil stains or fingerprints, take a small amount of neutral detergent (pH 7-8, non-corrosive, such as diluted baby shower gel), drop it on the corner of a microfiber cloth, and gently wipe the surface of the jewelry. Then use a microfiber cloth soaked in clean water to wipe off any remaining detergent. Finally, wipe it thoroughly with a dry soft cloth to prevent residual moisture from corroding the material.

(3) Precious Metal-Gemstone Joints: Special care should be taken when cleaning inlaid structures of precious metals such as gold and silver with gemstones (such as turquoise and beeswax). Gently scrub the gemstones with a soft-bristled brush and a small amount of specialized jewelry cleaning solution (specific to the specific gemstone to avoid chemical corrosion). Wipe the precious metal frame with a microfiber cloth and a neutral detergent. Dry quickly after cleaning to prevent moisture from penetrating the inlaid gaps and affecting their firmness.

2. Storage Tips (1) Individual Storage: Use a soft velvet jewelry box and wrap each Buddha statue jewelry piece individually to prevent friction and scratches on the surface. If the jewelry box has separate compartments, you can arrange them according to the size and material of the statue. For example, separate pure gold statues from those inlaid with gemstones to prevent the hardness of the gemstones from scratching the metal.

(2) Environmental Control: The jewelry should be stored in a dry, cool environment, away from areas with large temperature fluctuations, such as heating and air conditioning vents, and out of direct sunlight. A desiccant (such as silicone desiccant, which should be replaced regularly) can be placed in the jewelry box to maintain a relative humidity of 40%-60% to prevent oxidation of precious metals and dehydration and cracking of gemstones.

3. Daily Wear Protection (1) When wearing contact protection, avoid contact with hard objects. For example, when doing housework (washing dishes, mopping the floor) or exercising (fitness, playing ball), it is recommended to remove and store it. The surface of the Buddha statue is intricately carved and inlaid, and collisions can easily cause deformation, loss of gemstones, and damage to the artistic integrity.

(2) Chemical Protection: Stay away from chemical products such as perfume, hairspray, and hand cream. These contain alcohol, fragrances, and other chemicals. Contact with jewelry can corrode precious metal plating and tarnish the gemstone. It is recommended to complete your makeup and skincare routine and wait for the chemicals to completely dry before wearing jewelry.

IV. Special Situation Handling (1) Loose Gemstones If a gemstone appears loose, stop wearing it immediately and do not apply pressure or adjust it yourself. Contact a professional jewelry repair facility, who will use specialized tools to reinforce the setting and ensure the gemstone is secure. Also, check the surrounding setting to prevent other gemstones from becoming loose.

(2) Precious Metal Oxidation: Buddha statues made of pure silver are prone to oxidation and blackening. You can use a special silver cleaning cloth (containing mild polishing ingredients) to gently wipe the oxidized parts. If gold shows slight discoloration, clean it with a neutral detergent and then hand it over to a professional gold jewelry maintenance shop for polishing and refurbishment to restore its original color.

Carefully caring for Eastern Zen jewelry is a testament to both respect for spiritual culture and the preservation of artistic craftsmanship. By following these guidelines, each piece of Buddhist jewelry will convey a lasting sense of sacred meaning and aesthetic warmth, bearing witness to your faith and beauty through the years.

Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva (Sanskrit: Kṣitigarbha) means "calm and immovable like the earth, with profound meditation like a hidden treasure." His profound vows earned him the title of "Lord of the Netherworld." According to the Sutra of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva's Original Vows, Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, in distant past, was a Brahmin girl. Her mother, who disbelieved in cause and effect and slandered the Three Jewels, fell into hell after her death. To save her mother, the Brahmin girl sold her property to build a temple, sincerely chanting the name of "Awakening, Stability, and Freedom Tathagata." Her filial piety moved heaven and earth, and she personally visited hell. Blessed by the Buddha's power, she learned that her mother had been liberated from the evil realms due to her meritorious deeds. The Brahmin girl then vowed: "I will not attain Buddhahood until hell is empty, and I will not attain Bodhi until all sentient beings are liberated." In another life, she was Guangmu, who also made a great vow to save her mother from hell. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva resides in the netherworld, saving all suffering beings. He places particular emphasis on filial piety and redeeming the dead, and is the ultimate symbol of "great vows" and "great filial piety."

Why choose it?

He is the "incarnation of boundless vows and actions" and the "Savior of the Netherworld, relieving suffering and bringing happiness." He embodies the incredible virtues of "rescuing the deceased from the evil realms, resolving karmic debts from past lives, eliminating karmic obstacles, illness, and disasters, protecting peace and prosperity in this life, strengthening filial piety and gratitude, increasing merit and wisdom, and protecting the mind of Bodhi practice." Offering or wearing Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva not only prays for peace in the home, the salvation of ancestors, and the elimination of disasters and increase of blessings (echoing the principle of "increasing both merit and wisdom"), but also deeply receives the blessings of his great vows, enabling practitioners to persevere and strive in both favorable and unfavorable circumstances, accumulating the resources for Buddhahood and ultimately attaining Bodhi.

Design Intention

Dharma appearance and posture: Bodhisattvas often appear in the "solemn form of a monk", "sitting in lotus position" or "standing" on the "lotus platform", with a calm and peaceful posture, demonstrating their qualities of patience, immovability and deep meditation.

Core holdings:
1. Right hand: holding a "staff" (the nine rings shake open the gates of hell, representing "awakening ignorance, breaking through the obstacles of hell, and saving the sentient beings in the netherworld").
2. Left hand: Holding the "Wish-Fulfilling Jewel" (or "Mani Jewel"), the pearl emits light, representing "illuminating the darkness of the three evil paths, satisfying the good wishes of all beings, and bestowing wisdom and coolness."

Image Characteristics: His head is shaved to a round top, and he wears a simple robe (or Fukuda-ge robe), symbolizing the purity of the Sangha. His face is compassionate and serene, revealing a firm resolve. His eyes are slightly downcast, looking down with compassion upon all beings in the six realms.

Mounted mythical beast (some statues): The beast may be accompanied by the mythical beast "Didi Ting" (which looks like a dog and a lion, representing "discerning good and evil, and distinguishing truth from falsehood").

Craftsmanship and Meaning: The overall shape conveys Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's boundless compassion and power of salvation, "only after all sentient beings are saved can one attain Bodhi."

Wear it, you are wearing...

Peace for ancestors: Help the deceased souls to escape suffering and resolve grievances from past lives (supernatural salvation/resolve grievances).

Peace at home: Protect your family members in this life and keep them away from disasters (protect your home/safety).

Notes on culture

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas in Chinese Buddhism. Worshiping Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva not only seeks the salvation of ancestors and the protection of worldly peace, but also embodies the fundamental spiritual purpose of "emulating the Bodhisattva's great vows, practicing filial piety, diligently cultivating, and saving oneself and others."
